The South African Tobacco-Free Youth Forum is a network of vibrant Young people who are constantly & actively championing for Tobacco Control in our South African communities. Through the forum, we encourage Youth advocates to join the revolution in reaching a goal that is far bigger than ourselves. The forum encourages Youth advocates to join the revolution in creating & building ‘A Smoke Free Generation In Our Lifetime’.
By 2030, we believe we will see a generation of South African Youth who lead a Tobacco-Free lifestyle.
SATFYF GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Our main goal is to EDUCATE, INFORM and INFLUENCE CHANGE through:
- Creating A Formidable Youth Tobacco-Control Movement In South Africa
- Educating & Informing Young People About The Harsh Realities And The Effects Of Tobacco Through Various Digital And Physical Campaigns.
- Gaining Support & Putting Pressure On The Government To Process The Tobacco-Control Bill Through Various Legislative Stages.
- Disengaging The Tobacco Industry Through Persuasive Communications & Media Outreach Activities.
The South African Tobacco-Free Youth Forum seek to create a unified network of vibrant young leaders across South Africa, who will continuously champion and lead effective strategies for youth participation and advocacy in tobacco control by establishing provincial and regional youth chapters that will host information sessions, skills trainings, provide support and resources as well as open platforms for innovative think tanks.
The South African Tobacco Free Youth Forum aims to impact millions of lives by commanding the attention and respect of young people. Together, we can expand our influence and impact to make tobacco and nicotine addiction a thing of the past and contribute to ending the opioid crisis.
SATFYF has established Provincial Youth chapters in 4 provinces across South Africa in :
– Kwa-Zulu Natal
– Western Cape
– Gauteng
– Limpopo
These Youth chapters have dedicated Chairpersons, Spokespersons and Co-ordinators leading the advocacy work in each province.
