Why We Exist

SATFYF

Why We Exist

The South African Tobacco-Free Youth Forum exists to strengthen youth engagement and youth participation within Tobacco Control. We also exist to educate and inform young people about the harsh realities of tobacco use as well as the harsh effects of tobacco. We are the youth voice fighting for a smoke free generation in our life

Our mission is to create a unified network of vibrant young leaders who will continuously champion and lead effective strategies for youth participation and advocacy in Tobacco Control by providing networking opportunities, skills training, support and resources for leading youth organisations.

Our main goal is to EDUCATE, INFORM and INFLUENCE CHANGE for a smoke-free generation in our lifetime.

SATFYF

Advisory council

The advisory council for the South African Tobacco Free Youth Forum consists of a variety of organisations that have been researching the dangers of tobacco and that have been advocating for Tobacco Control in South Africa.

These organisations include: National Council Against Smoking (NCAS), African Tobacco Industry Monitoring (ATIM) and Reap, just to name a few.

The advisory council will support SATFYF with different materials on Tobacco Control and well-thought and well-researched presentations to the youth in order to instil change and knowledge, this will also assist our chosen youth to educate their peers. By so doing, we emphasize the ‘train the trainer’ approach that SATFYF aims to achieve.

Driven by the motto of “there is nothing for us, without us”, our vision, mission, goals and objectives will be certainly achieved through the assistance we will be receiving from the advisory council. The advisory council is to lead the way for the youth.
